1. Measure the width of your window
Use a tape measure to measure the exact width of your window. Measure from the far left to the far right side of the window.
2. Add the overhang
For an aesthetic effect and to ensure that the curtains completely cover the window, please add approximately 15 to 20 cm of overhang to your window width. This overhang will allow the curtains to completely cover the window both when opened and closed, providing better light control.
3. Calculate the total length of the curtain rod
Add the window width and the overhang you determined in step 2. The result gives you the total length of the curtain rod.
Example:
If your window width is 140 cm, you should choose a curtain rod with a total length of 170 cm to 180 cm (140 cm + 15 cm to 20 cm overhang on each side).
Please note that these measurements are intended as a general guide.
Depending on your personal taste and individual preferences, you can also choose a larger or smaller overhang.
Also consider the height of the window lintel and the distance to the next window to ensure that the curtain rod is placed appropriately.
